Why We Are BishopStrong!

It is not always about getting an athletic scholarship or being recruited to play on a college team, or making the sports photo of the week in the Times Recorder.

It is a deep need in us that comes from attending a Catholic school.

Our student athletes need to practice, to play, to lift, to hustle, to sweat. We do all of this for our Savior, teammates, parents, fans and the student in our class that we may not even know.

We don't practice, run, lift weights, or condition with professional athletes. We practice with a future priest, senator, veteran, doctor, mechanic, teacher, engineer, or CEO . . .We practice and compete as a team with our brothers and sisters in Christ.

It is bigger than all of us. We stand with others because HE stood for us.

Sometimes we play for 5 fans, sometimes we play for hundreds. But we still play hard. We strive to be one day better. You cheer for us because you know us. You know more than just our names. You know our families and friends.

We are students first and we glorify God above all.

We are not passive about learning. We study hard, take tests, write papers, complete projects, fill out college applications, ACT/SAT test registrations, voter registrations, and when that does not seem like enough we study some more.

When we miss a play or make an error we don't let down an entire state. We may only let down our teammates, coaches and fans but we still pray at the end of a game to give thanks for the opportunities we have.

We train hard, lift, throw, run, kick, tackle, shoot, dribble, and in the morning we go to class.
And in that class we are nothing more than students in a Catholic school.

It is about pride in Bishop Rosecrans High School.

It's about our love and passion for the game. And when it is over, when we walk off that court or field and across the stage for the last time our hearts break into pieces. Our tears are real. But deep down inside we are very proud and humble because we do it and say it as representatives of Christ.

We will forever be what few can claim . . .
